Sea Stars

Had a chat last weekend with a friend who loves to snorkel with manta rays and scuba dive among sharks. No thank you to that last one!

Seriously, though, I told him that I'm always looking for the next sea creature to 'star' in my books. So far my heroines have loved dolphins, sea lions, elephant seals and otters. I'm leaning toward seahorses next because they're just so cool--and they don't swallow you whole when you've been naughty! (Another Jonah ref for those scratching their heads...) But I'm open to suggestions so bring 'em on...

It's FRIDAY! And the sun's peeking through the clouds! Can I get an Amen? I've got some odds and ends to handle before the release of Sweet Waters but other than that, I'm hoping to get out there and enjoy the weekend. Here's hoping you have a beachy one too, my friends--wherever you are!

I know this is a sorry excuse for a real post, but it's kind of funny, don't you think? It's got that whole 'pearls before swine' thing going on...

And considering Elementary Girl played in a soccer tourney this weekend in a city that has had 3 confirmed cases of the Pig Flu, well, guess it's been on my mind. Hope you are all healthy--take your vitamins!

Oh, ha ha ha! Guess the keepin' up with the Jones' thing has been around awhile.

Sad, but true.

Speaking of having it all, I wrote a piece awhile ago about having our luxuries for less because, well, let's face it...I'm a cheapskate who likes nice things. In this economy, that's not such a bad thing really (the cheapskate part anyway). And it's good stewardship too :) You can read about having your Luxuries...for Less here. On another note, sad to see Jasmine and Jorge leave AI last night. I thought it a bit premature for Jasmine, particularly, but frankly, there's some hot talent in this group. I'm on the fence about who'll go next week...my guess (based on this week) would be Scott, Michael or Matt, although I do like them all. The top 10 go on tour, so the next boot-off will be significant!

This past Saturday, I attended a memorial for a friend--my 6th in less than a year. More and more I'm reminded of the brevity of life and how important it is to live life joyfully.

For some reason, this cartoon cracked me up...maybe it's because the older I become the more age-defying products I seem to be buying ;).

Been a little awol over here at blogger due to being, well, overwhelmed. This cartoon's a bit apropo at the moment because between sitting in front of my work all day and snacking while doing so, I'm starting to feel like that guy on the right there.

This cracked me up because the novel I'm currently writing involves a development project along the waters's edge. So just yesterday I emailed my architect brother to ask what the "survey tripod thingie" was called.

He wrote back: "Is that a trick question?" Apparently, it really is called a survey tripod (thingie :).

It's good to laugh

Today's my last day to sleep in. Elementary Girl starts back to school on Monday, and the super early mornings will begin again.

I so relate to Jesus here.
