The Skinny on Swimsuits

Pretty soon I'll be boarding a boat to Catalina island to chaperone my daughter's mid-school trip, and all I have to say is hey, somebody's gotta do it.

So, of course, in prep for this upcoming jaunt, Pre-teen daughter and I hit the mall for the obligatory new swimsuit. We were looking for something with a little style!, some pizazz!, a spandex miracle! What we found was too flimsy, too tight, too risque!

Sigh. Stuffing myself like sausage meat into Lycra skins amazingly made me think of Photo Shop. Seriously. Wouldn't it be cool if software could do more than erase stray bangs and facial creases, but also produce swimsuits that truly do smooth away rolls and bulges? Yeah, Baby! That's what I'm talkin' about!

Alas, after much bitterness and gnashing of teeth, I found one that would do. So I'll be packing it--along with a big ol' terry cloth robe.

I hear ya, girlfriend! But last year I tried on a NAME BRAND swimsuit just to see what all the hooplah was about. One of those that cost my husband's monthy salary. There IS a reason. Of course by the time I have enough money for one, I'll be old, gray and wrinkely...and probably won't care.

You saying I'm cheap Jamie? hahaha. Okay. You're right.

last year i came across some site that boasted their suits took one full size off you and a certain number of inches. they even included a measuring tape in every order so you could check their claim! i have no idea what site that was, or why i was looking, because hello? i was pregnant.

Actually, I'm saying I'm cheap, but I thought the term could possibly apply to you considering the end result. Because, okay, the Target swimsuits are cute...on a hanger and a teenager. The rest of us need to buy Calvin Klein. (Which I thought was just a label until I put it on.)
